You can't come to Paris without seeing the Louvre Pyramid lit up at night! It is truly glorious and breathtaking!
The Louvre Pyramid stands in the incredibly spacious entry courtyard of the Louvre Museum. It is a huge clear pyramid made of glass and metal, designed by I.M.Pei. Three smaller pyramids surround it, as well as fountains and large reflecting pools. In the courtyard are statues and of course the beautiful honeycomb-colored buildings of the Louvre Museum.
After dark the pyramid takes on a golden hue with its perfect lighting. The pyramid reflects in the pool in front. We saw a couple getting wedding photos here- what a great spot!
With social media selfies becoming a reason for travel, this area is now crowded with people trying to get photos of themselves pinching the pyramid with their thumb and forefinger.
Often you also can't walk near the pyramid because of the long line to get into The Louvre Museum that snakes around the pyramid. Come to the pyramid on Tuesdays, or after 9pm on Wednesdays, or after 6pm on other days, when the museum is closed.
From the Louvre Pyramid you can walk directly into the Jardin des Tuileries, and explore its statues and pond with toy sailboats. In the Tuileries Gardens, there is also a playground and carousel for kids!
The Louvre Pyramid is located in front of the Louvre Museum. The nearest metro stop is Palais Royal- Musee du Louvre.
