If you want to get away from the bustle of Paris, head to the Musee Rodin (closed Mondays). The neighborhood where it is located is leafy, quiet, and civilized! When you approach the 18th-century mansion, you are delighted by its adorable turret. Once inside, there is room after room of lovely sculptures depicting human bonds: mother and child, lovers. The bodies are as if emerging from the stone, and are from unusual angles. There are other sculptures as well, such as The Thinker, a man contemplating something deeply. The rooms of the mansion have huge arched windows with greenery outside, and elegant details everywhere such as wrought-iron banisters, checkered floors, and chandeliers. After, you can stroll the garden which is full of roses and topiaries.

I loved this museum when I was a teenager studying in Paris, imagining one day being a mother with a sweet child, like in the sculptures.
It's interesting to read about Rodin's life, and his relationship with Camille Claudel, on a timeline on the wall.
There are also a few paintings by Impressionist painters such as Monet and Van Gogh!
The museum is hot in summer, without any windows open. This seems to be a common theme in Europe- lack of ventilation in museums, airports, trains, and public spaces.
Come early because the museum is quite crowded.
Have lunch at Le Cafe de Musee, which has the loveliest mint green floral wallpaper, sophisticated decor, and hanging flowers.
After visiting the museum, have a stroll in Square d'Ajaccio, a pretty park with Eiffel Tower views, magnolia trees, a wooden play house, and flowers. It is across the boulevard and slightly north of the museum.
Walk around the neighborhood to Les Invalides, where Napoleon was buried, and where there is an army museum you can check out. This is appreciated by the men in the family who didn't connect as much with the Musee Rodin!
