Rue Vieille du Temple (old street of the temple) is an ancient, narrow, pretty street in the Marais (3rd and 4th arrondisement) that leads south to the Seine River. As with all of Paris, it is busy, but it has lovely storefronts filled with upscale shops and cute bistros. The architecture is historic and delightful, with turrets and some half-timbered buildings even! If you are in the area, it's a nice street to take to walk south, avoiding the noisier boulevards.
The Marais was falling into decay until Culture Minister Andre Malraux brought it back to life in 1964. Hotels were restored, and museums were added, such as Musee Carnavalet, the Picasso Museum, and the Centre Pompidou.
