Comic-Con Museum has high ceilings and plenty of open space with benches where you can rest, making it appealing after a long day walking in Balboa Park. It is interesting for people of all ages. You can see exhibits of costumes from movies, comic books from days of old, and items from your favorite shows. There are three levels to check out.
When you enter, the Pac-Man exhibit draws you in. It is dark, lit up by arcade game lights from your teen years. Next, the Star Wars exhibit has costumes from the movie. There are also amazing costumes from the Costume Masquerade, a competition of costumes created by attendees of Comic-Con. There is an exhibit of superheroes that two boys made from cardboard boxes- quite incredible. There are superhero costumes from the real movies, designed by Allan Lavigne.
A collection of Archie comics and colorful posters grabs your imagination. There are spaces from the comic, such as Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, with its checkered floor. And there's an exhibit about Sabrina Spellman, the teen witch in Archie.
In another area, there are pencil drawings from Spider-Woman. An exhibit shows Rocketeer merchandise, including a View-Master 3-D pack of reels- weren't those the best?!
A lifesize statue of Batman, which was created for the museum's 80th anniversary of the movie, is in the lower level of the museum. There are also posters of Fraggle Rock.
Come take a break from walking around the park and rest in the colorful space of the Comic-Con Museum.
Comic-Con Museum is located at 2131 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101. Open daily 10-6. You can park for free in the Veterans Museum parking lot.
The price of entrance changes depending on the exhibit. If it's expensive, it might not be worth it because there is not that much inside the museum.
