Los Penasquitos Lagoon cafes, Del Mar
There are a row of cafes across the street from Los Penasquitos Lagoon, where it's nice to eat in the cool breeze off the lagoon, with views of the fog and water. Bring a sweater! This is the lagoon that leads into Torrey Pines State Beach. The cafes, on Carmel Valley Rd, are popular with young professionals. You can hang out at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, the hippest choice. Have a carne asada burrito at Roberto's Taco, a famous fast food place, with outdoor seating. There's also Seasalt, with great views and upscale cuisine, The Goat Sports Bar, and West End Bar and Kitchen.
I don't really love the hazy look in this area, but being by a lagoon is nice.

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is located at 2212 Carmel Valley Rd, Del Mar, CA 92014, and the other cafes are nearby. Park for free along Carmel Valley Rd beside the lagoon.
