Mission Rock, or Mission Bay, is a modern area on the waterfront with shiny highrise buildings stretching to the sky. It is across the water from Oracle Park stadium and the Bay Bridge, affording awesome views! An excellent waterfront bike path runs through it, connecting up with Embarcadero

It's lovely to hang out on the cement stairs or long log picnic tables at China Basin Park taking in the views. There is a huge sloped lawn with magical views of the bay. A large Willie McCovey (baseball player) statue stands by the water framed by views of Oracle Park stadium behind. There is an area with sand, driftwood logs, adirondack chairs, and flowers, directly at the water, where people can relax and kids can play. Grab an amazing chocolate croissant (the best you will have had in a while) at Arsicault Bakery and enjoy it here. Then cross the cool-looking dark gray 3rd Street Bridge and check out the statues of baseball players and plaques in the sidewalk around Oracle Park describing notable players and events in baseball history. Continue walking north along the water to Embarcadero and the Ferry Building.
Mission Creek Park is a bit plain but has a walking path on Mission Creek Channel, with views of houseboats, which is a unique sight.
Some places I haven't explore yet: Near Mission Creek Park is Mission Bay Kids Park, a huge playground between highrise buildings, with two space nets, huge slides, a spinner for four, spinning chair, playhouse, canvas disc swing, wooden stepping stones, swings, and Zero-G swings with buckles. Spark Social SF is a food truck area nearby, which has a mini golf area called Stagecoach Greens (open daily 11-9) that looks like an old west town.
To the south is the Chase Center, with rock concerts by all the famous artists, basketball games, and many cafes in Thrive City, such as Gott's Roadside Hamburger. You will also find UCSF medical buildings, and Mission Rock Resort (closed Mon), a restaurant on the water with indoor and outdoor seating. Crane Cove Park is an industrial cove that residents enjoy. RH San Francisco, in the historic Bethlehem Steel Building, is a five-floor high end furniture store with views of the bay, rooftop garden, and restaurant on many levels, which is grand and interesting to check out (tell the doormen you are walking around the space or visiting the cafe). You are now in the Dogpatch neighborhood, with cafes such as Neighborhood Bakeshop. Take the T line tram to get around the places just mentioned.
You can catch the San Francisco Water Taxi north along the waterfront from the Mission Rock area. Get on at Oracle Park or at Chase Center, and take the bumpy ride to Embarcadero and further, to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. You must reserve online, and the cost is around $20-35.
