Barney Schwartz Park is a pretty place, with a manmade lake and two playgrounds. At the upper playground you have views all around you of the oak-studded yellow Paso Robles hills. The wooden playground has some cool features, like wavy slides that attach to the hillside and a moving platform that kids can ride while parents work the gear. The lake is a peaceful spot with shady gazebos situated around it- a nice place for birthday parties (There is still water in the lake despite the drought). In summer come early in the day or at sunset because it's very hot. For a nice walk, stroll the zigzagging path down to the Lower Playground.
Explore Paso Robles town and its historical buildings, colorful candy shop, and cafes when you're done playing. It has an amazing playground as well called Downtown City Park playground, right in the center of town. The Paso Robles Children's Museum is also a ton of fun for kids, both little and big. They love it with its pizza kitchen, Newton's playhouse where they can shoot balls, market with carts and more!
From Highway 101, exit at Hwy 46 East (don't exit at Hwy 46 West- it's a different road altogether) toward Bakersfield. Head east on Hwy 46 and then turn right on Paso Robles Blvd. Turn left on Union Rd. Take the first entrance to the park, on your right, and follow it up the hill to the last parking lot, beside the lake. Click "satellite" to see which parking lot I mean.
The address is 2970 Union Rd, Paso Robles CA 93446.
