I love Cal Poly U-Pick! Here, with a glorious backdrop of Bishop's Peak, and friendly students helping you, you can pick plump fruit! Depending on the season, you will find: pixie mandarins, blood oranges, blueberries, strawberries, or peaches. The fruit trees look adorable, like you're in an Animal Crossing video game! Come on a day with blue sky so that you can revel in the colors. In January, the tiny variety of mandarins is super sweet, easy to peel, and delicious. In April, it's wonderful to smell the orange blossoms- it is one of my favorite scents.
Sign up for the Cal Poly Farm email list (see below), to find out if the U-Pick will be held that week.
After, drive three minutes and walk among the flowers at Leaning Pine Arboretum, or have a coffee at Scout Coffee on the Cal Poly campus. You can also drive over to University Square Shopping Center where there is another beautiful Scout Coffee and a Lassens Market, plus shops and cafes across Foothill Blvd.
Cal Poly U-Pick is usually held on Saturday 9-noon, depending on the season and weather.

Directions: Ask google maps to take you to the Crops Unit Building at Cal Poly, on the corner of Highland Drive and Mount Bishop Road. Turn onto Mount Bishop Rd and then turn left onto the dirt road between the Crops Unit Building and the Viticulture Building. Follow the rdirt oad until you get to the parking lot. There will be U-Pick signs. The dirt road is fine with a regular car.
