The Creamery Marketplace is a quiet, leafy plaza with restaurants, BBQ place, ice cream cafe, coffee shop, and public space with tables, tucked away on the southwestern edge of downtown SLO. It feels more peaceful than the rest of downtown, and you can relax in the shade at one of the public tables. If you come with a whole group, each person can choose their own food and you can all meet back at a table. There are cute shops to browse as well.
At night, this area looks magical, with strung lights setting the ambiance. This makes it a romantic spot to go out to eat, and you can choose from several good restaurants. Mama's Meatballs is the favorite, obviously with excellent meatballs, but also good penne pasta with eggplant.
The Creamery Marketplace is hidden and tucked away. You can see it by spotting the green cow sculpture at its entrance arch. This area in general has some homeless people spread out on the street and is a bit sketch, but once you get inside the plaza it improves.
The Creamery Marketplace is located at 570 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
Parking is difficult. It's best to park along the street for free, several blocks southeast, around the 1400 block of Nipomo Street.
