Cuesta Community College is located halfway between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. From the road it looks like a dry area, but once you pull in to the college you see that it is lush with trees, grass, and shady walkways. The white buildings make is bright and magical. There are picnic tables and little spots to hang out. The Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center (CPAC) is impressive and hosts music concerts such as excellent Jazz combos, book seminars, and theater performances. Every seat is comfortable with good views of the stage, and the acoustics and lighting are excellent. Don't confuse CPAC (the concert hall at Cuesta College) with PAC (the concert hall at Cal Poly) when going to your concert! For more live music in SLO, check out my summer live music list.
There is a well-heated, pretty pool on campus. And also a preschool. Students on campus are friendly and welcoming, and many practical subjects are offered. One problem is that there are too many online courses, which really kills the vibes on campus since it can be quite empty. Students end up isolated and unstimulated, learning at home, as if the covid epidemic still exists.
Being just 12 minutes drive to downtown San Luis Obispo is a big advantage since this is a vibrant town full of college students.
There is a great hike nearby called Eagle Rock Nature Trail!
Cuesta College is located at Romauldo Rd, San Luis Obispo CA. You can park for free in the huge parking lot and walk the campus to check it out.
