If you want a beach all to yourself, head to Fisherman's Beach in Avila Beach, especially on a weekday! Dogs are not allowed on this beach which makes it a peaceful spot. The beach has an attractive curve to it, fragrant California shrubs and flowers atop, and pretty views of the Harford Pier and Avila headland. You park in a dirt parking lot atop the rocky point that divides this beach from the offleash dog beach called Olde Port Beach. Then you make your way down a dirt path with some gently sloping stairs and a wooden railing. Once you reach the beach, it's fun to explore the rocky area to the left, watching the waves swirl around the boulders. Sometimes there is someone fishing here. You can take a nice stroll along the sand toward the harbor. The sand gets dirtier as you get closer to the harbor. Look up at the cactus on the hillside. Cactus is happy in Avila Beach because it is sheltered from the cold Morro Bay wind.
You can sit a while without anyone disturbing your thoughts at this beach. It's also nice to sit in your car in the parking lot on cold days and admire the view.

It looks cozy to your left when you arrive at the sand.

The beach is free of driftwood, shells, and pebbles, as they tend to land on Avila Beach. This makes it look quite streamlined and idyllic.
