Fremont Theatre, San Luis Obispo

To have a classic movie experience, take in a film at the art deco Fremont Theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo. You are transformed to the 1940s from the moment you step up to the pastel decorated exterior, which looks particularly lovely at night. Inside, sea nymphs ride horses on the interior walls, and neon swoops adorn the ceiling. Huge velvet drapes and inlaid walkways complete the plush experience.

Kids will enjoy watching a new-release movie here. This theatre is also home to the annual San Luis Obispo Film Festival in March.
Also good for a rainy day: the awesome San Luis Obispo Childrens Museum where your kids can have a fantastic time in imaginary play. It's just a short walk away.
