Heilmann Park and splash pad, Atascadero

Amid dry vegetation and gnarled trees is Heilmann Park in Atascadero. It's a good place to escape the heat on summer days because it has a small splash pad. The playground has tunnels suspended up high, stepping stones, and climbeys. It's hard to find so see the directions below. On the winter morning we came it was deserted. Maybe afternoons are better, and for sure in summer it will be popular.
After, drive into the main part of Atascadero town for a slice of delicious pie at Bramble Pie Company and a stroll around the sunken garden with its gorgeous variety of trees. 

Directions

Heilmann Park is located at 9498 El Bordo Ave, Atascadero CA 93422. Don't turn in when you see the first sign for the park on El Bordo Ave. This driveway takes you to a parking lot. Instead, continue on, and you will see the playground on your right. The driveway for the playground is just before La Quinta Road meets El Bordo Ave.
