Highland Park is a gorgeous little spot. At the top is a tiny playground with views of the ocean. Then there's a sloped lawn that goes way down the hillside. It's a lot of fun for kids to run down the lawn as it just keeps going and going! Bring some cardboard to slide down. At the bottom there is a world of marvelous pampas grass. Kids can use a stalk as a lightsaber or tickle each other with the feathery ends of the grass. Our family had a blast at this park. There are also some wonderful shady picnic areas with clean BBQs.
Another inspiring spot nearby is Shell Beach Panoramic Walk, where pelicans perch on steep cliffs above the sea.

The playground and a BBQ area.

Highland Park is high up over the town.

The lawn slopes way down, and then you see even more lawn around the corner below!

A lovely picnic area- this is a very typical Pismo look.

More lawn! Like a ski slope! This would be a great place to go iceblocking- slide down on a huge chunk of fisherman's ice.

Looking down the "ski slope" at the town.

The wonderland of pampas grass at the bottom of the park. There's a trail here but it's very steep and slippery.

Pampas grass and the view of the town.
