It's lovely to stand at Los Osos Valley Nursery admiring the colorful pots of all sizes and listening to the leaves rustling in the trees. Above are the hills of Montana de Oro and the California palms, eucalyptus, and cypress trees. There are many sections to the nursery, including a little shed for air plants and another for houseplants. Flowers galore add happiness to your day, and whimsical statues are interspersed in between. There are statues of mermaids, a merman, frogs, Asian goddesses, California bears, birds, faces, and more. It is fun for kids to wonder around and see what they find.
After, have lunch on the huge back patio of Ale House, a two minute drive away, in Los Osos town. Their strawberry salad with chicken is delicious.
On Wednesday at 9:45am, sit in the tiny chapel at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with its skylights and paintings of Jesus, and pray silently and sing songs with the few that gather for adoration. The views out the windows are wonderful. Then walk to the end of the street- the trail is private but you can just go a few steps and admire the views of the dunes and sea, letting the cool Los Osos air touch your face.
Los Osos Valley Nursery is located at 301 Los Osos Valley Rd, Los Osos, CA 93402.
Open daily 10-5.
