Shamel Park has a large lawn and nice playground, right by Moonstone Beach, which is a large windswept cove. The dark sand slopes down to the wild surf. It's fun to watch the waves crash on the rocks at the point of the green headland. Seagulls keep an eye on things.
The neighborhood by the park is cute and the rugged cypress trees add atmosphere.
Kids will enjoy listening to the ocean as they play on the playground with twisty tunnel slide, double slide for races, tunnel to crawl through, bridge, tightrope bar, bouncy, baby swings, and swings. It is not an imaginative playground but it does have plenty of equipment to explore.
There are plenty of shady picnic tables, though it's too cold to be in the shade!
Bring a thick jacket because it's cold!
Walk north and you will get to the Moonstone Beach Boardwalk and the ocean-view hotels of Cambria.
Walk south and you will come to ice plant on the cliffs over gorgeous rocky coves at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.
For expensive restaurants in historic buildings, check out Cambria town.
Make sure you visit the unforgettable Hearst Castle, just 12 minutes north!
Shamel Park is located at 5455 Windsor Blvd, Cambria, CA 93428. There is plenty of free parking.

I have to say this Park was very nice and very clean one of the nicest parks I have been to in awhile. And so perfect a walk away from the beach. BBQ pits, play ground, clean restrooms and a beautiful view.
