Morro Bay Blvd is a lovely, hilly street with ocean views, lined with cute cafes on the 200-600 blocks. It is a few blocks back from the main Embarcadero in Morro Bay town, uphill. The road is lined with adorable trees that bloom red in September. This is the less touristy area, where the locals eat and hang out at coffee shops. My favorite cafe here is Thai Elephant, in a cozy setting. The pineapple red curry is the only good meal, so don't come unless you are going to order it. Shine Cafe has a cheerful, hippie feel, a Vegan cafe (try their black bean tostada salad), with a market next door called Sunshine Health Foods. On Wed 9am, you can buy Bread Bike Bakery items at this market- these are delicious breads and chocolate croissants made with real sourdough! Across the street is Buttercup Bakery, with a sunny, very pleasant outdoor seating area, and plenty of friendly people who say hello to each other. It has a sandwich made with Dutch Crunch bread, the bread from San Luis Obispo that is so yummy! They have summer live music concerts in August and early Sept, Sat 4-7pm. On cold days (this is often in Morro Bay), it is wonderful to sit at Scout Coffee at the counter by the huge windows and watch the world go by, while feeling warm yet almost outside. Other cafes to try are: Pizza Port, Gilligan's Sandwich Shop, Rudie's Rock Espresso which has seating in the back, Food Mix (authentic Mexican with a nice mural on the outer wall), Mi Casa (authentic Mexican), and High Tide, an acai bowl place with bright blue umbrellas outside.

Beads by the Bay is a store that sells beads. In the Groove sell records, and Central Coast Music sell guitars and instruments. There are several private art stores as well.
Along the street are flower planters overflowing with petunias- what a pretty sight!
