Ragged Point Inn is on the southern end of the Big Sur Drive from San Simeon to Lucia, 16 minutes north of the Elephant Seal Vista Point in San Simeon. The cliffs where Ragged Point Inn sits are absolutely stunning! Stand at the lookout, beside the wooden circle sculpture, and look down. You are so high up and the cliffs are vertical! On a sunny day, the water is a vibrant blue-green that takes your breath away. The cypress tree branches frame the image, making it more special. When we were there last, an electric blue line was on the horizon. A couple sat on the adirondack chairs here munching chips from the gift shop! Further down the walkway through cypress trees is another lookout, and then a clearing at the tip of the headland. There are various spots to sit at the lawn, or you can sit in the sun on the U-shaped patio bench by the restaurant. The hills behind look golden in the light. Come here on weekend afternoons in summer when they have live music on the lawn.
It's nice how the inn lets the public walk their grounds. Support them by buying something at the coffee shop, restaurant, or gift shop.
You can walk down 400 feet of stairs to Young Creek Beach below.
Ragged Point Inn is located at 19019 Highway 1, Ragged Point. There is a large parking lot.
