In Shell Beach Village, between the cafes on Shell Beach Road and the freeway, there is a dedicated bike path that is popular with locals. The 1.1 km bike path begins at Dinosaur Caves Park and ends at Shell Beach Elementary School. It is lined with a fence to protect you from the cars above you on the freeway (hopefully). Rows of beautiful cypress trees and bright green trees make for a pretty ride. The noise from the freeway is quite loud. In spring, there are colorful flowers on the bank beside the path, and on the hills in the distance.
As you bike along, you see a juice place called Joy Health Bar, a coffee shop with a wonderful back balcony called Steaming Beans (avoid their smoothies made of cheap juice and their pastries, but they get the sourdough for their sandwiches from a good bakery), a brewhouse, Zorro Cafe with its red umbrellas, inns, beach boutiques, and surf/kayak gear shops. Stop at Steaming Beans to have a cup of tea. On sunny, windstill days, it's blissful to sit out on their balcony listening to the tranquil sounds of birds chirping. On colder days, sit inside and enjoy their big windows looking out on the hills.
On your left are many side streets leading down to incredible views of sea stacks and the blue sea, such as at Eldwayen Ocean Park. None of the side streets have sidewalks though.
The bike path begins at 301 Shell Beach Road (Dinosaur Caves Park), and ends at 2101 Shell Beach Rd (Shell Beach Elementary School). There is plenty of parking in bays along the road, right beside the bike path.
