Stoneridge Park is a hilltop park with a basketball court with a view, picnic tables, eucalyptus trees, and a two-mile out-and-back trail. It is nice to be high up and this is one of the prettiest basketball courts you could shoot hoops at! There are three picnic tables, without shade. A cluster of eucalyptus trees adds that California feel, as do some rows of palm trees.

A difficult two-mile out-and-back hike called South Hills Trail, with a rocky, unsteady dirt path leads to the top of Vulture Peak and back down. It is steep, reaching 22% grade at one point. There is no shade, as it is a mountain of low, dry grasses dotted with many small boulders. Sometimes you can see goats. Because of mud, this trail is sometimes closed in winter. Check the trail status on the city of SLO website before you go.
The houses nearby are Mediterranean-style which is fun to see. One has a blue dome and another looks very Middle Eastern, with pointed arches. From Mason Way, two white-washed staircases lead up and down the hill between houses, with flowers and trees adding color. It feels like you're in Greece!
Across Broad Street from this development, check out modern and pretty Taste Eatery or the other cafes on Orcutt Road
