Instead of walking along the Cabrillo Bike Path, sometimes I like to walk on the other side of Cabrillo Boulevard, beside Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. Here you can walk a hard-packed dirt path that winds over thick green lawns, under tall palms, and past sweet tropical flowers. The ocean is within view the whole way, as are the mountains. Cars whiz by but it's still a peaceful walk. When you get to Calle Cesar Chavez, there's a plaza with a blue Spanish fountain where you can sit and take in the atmosphere. Afterwards, you can walk inside the hotel grounds, past flowerbeds that remind of Hawaii. Inside the hotel's lobby along the hallway wall is a great cascading fountain that kids love.
There are restrooms inside the hotel lobby, near the cascading fountain.
If you're hungry, you can eat at The Set, a cafe inside the hotel lobby, open starting at 3pm on weekdays or 11:30am on weekends. Ask to be served on the patio outside where you'll have gorgeous views looking out through the arches of the rotunda at the sea. On a beautiful day, nothing is better than a salad out on the patio!
Other places to visit near here are: Santa Barbara Zoo, with its lawn overlooking the sea; East Beach, which is great for long walks, watching beach volleyball, and playing on the "playground in the sand"; and Chase Palm Park, a ship-themed playground with a toddler-sized Spanish adobe village, carousel, and stream surrounded by long wispy grass.
Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort is located at 633 East Cabrillo Boulevard, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
The Set, a cafe inside the hotel lobby and on the oceanview terrace, open starting at 3pm on weekdays or 11:30am on weekends.
Exit Highway 101 at Garden Street and turn toward the ocean. Turn left on Cabrillo Blvd and park along the road. The pathway is across the street from the ocean, along Cabrillo Blvd between Calle Cesar Chavez and Calle Puerto Vallarta. You can park along the road at Calle Puerto Vallarta- check the signs to be sure.

The best secret in CA. If you are looking for a beach/mountain/town vacation, this is where you need to go. Don't go to LA, you have to go to Santa Barbara! It has hikes, walks, gardens, hiostry, Spanish architecture, shopping, restaurants, beautiful beaches for the family. Highly recommended.
