Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos

Figueroa Mountain Road is a scenic country road. When in Los Olivos town on the main strip of Grand Avenue, if you just drive north on Grand Avenue it becomes Figueroa Mountain Road. This is open road. Hills covered in wildflowers and happy grazing cows surround you on both sides. The best time to come is spring when the entire area will be yellow with flowers. After ten minutes you come to a bridge and the road becomes steep and winding. In winter you can even drive to some snow. In spring, if you follow the road for a long drive to Happy Canyon Road, you may see wild poppies along the way. Or you may not. Being a wildflower seeker is a frustrating occupation!

Neverland Ranch, where Michael Jackson once lived, is at 5225 Figueroa Mountain Rd, and you can see the gate to the property.
After your drive, head over to Los Olivos town for some live music at The Crooked Path (weekends 3-7pm), or a California Lemon Zest ice cream at Corner House Coffee. Then check out the miniature horses at Quicksilver Ranch and in summer, "swim" in the lavendar at Clairmont Lavendar Farm.

From Los Olivos town head north along Grand Avenue. After you cross Highway 154, Grand Avenue becomes Figueroa Mountain Rd.
From Highway 101 southbound, take Highway 154 east. After 3.3 miles, turn north (left) on Figueroa Mountain Rd.
From Highway 101 northbound, follow the signs to Highway 154 west. This is a very scenic drive up a steep mountain with views over Santa Barbara. After 29 miles, turn north (right) on Figueroa Mountain Rd.
