A nice area of Sarasota is Main Street, with its many cafes, most of them in the shade! It makes it possible to eat outside even on a hot day. There are scultpures and overflowing flowerpots to add to your delight.

For crepes, check out C'est La Vie. For NY-style deli sandwiches with vegetables finely sliced, check out Pastry Art Bakery Cafe. There are many cafes, bakeries, coffee shops, and ice cream shops to choose from. Walk to Whole Foods for some healthy groceries, and shady seating outside.
Main Street leads west to the water, where you will find a marina and bayfront park with a dolphin statue.
