Isle of Palms is a lovely area, near Charleston. It has pretty, colorful homes with tropical landscaping. It's fun to just drive around the streets taking in the atmosphere. There is a main strip, Ocean Blvd, with cute cafes and stores under red roofs. Have an ice cream at Ben and Jerry's here. You can park in a large lot and access a wide beach with a pier.
All the way on the east end of the island, the beach has a good feel to it near Boardwalk Inn, slightly more narrow and cozy than wide-open Sullivan's Island Beach, and with nicer sand. Between Sullivan's Island Beach and Isle of Palms, stop at Thompson Park to check out Breach Inlet, a very pretty spot.
On your way back to Charleston town, eat a meal enjoying amazing views at the three-level Saltwater Cowboys Restaurant, and stop for a stroll below the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge at Mt. Pleasant Pier.
Isle of Palms' main strip is at 1109 Ocean Blvd, Isle of Palms, SC 29451. There is slanted parking along the road and a large beach parking lot where you can park to visit a beach with a pier.
Park along the road at 5798 Palm Blvd to be near a long wooden boardwalk that leads to a nice part of Isle of Palms Beach all the way on the east end of the island.
