Description
Santa Lucea Beach is a pretty beach on the southern end of Hutchinson Island. There is good surf here, and plenty of surfers come to enjoy it when there's a swell. From the parking lot, there are two paths that lead to the beach: the southmost one is a wooden walkway though jungle, the northmost one is an overgrown sandy jungle path with wildflowers and butterflies. Children enjoy making their way along this short path and seeing what they find. The beach, with greyish sand, slopes down to perfect almost technicolor blue-green water. There is usually a strong, cool breeze. No shade is to be found so come early or late in the day. For some shade, try Chastain Beach. For calm water that kids love, try Bathtub Beach.
