Edge District, St. Petersburg
The Edge District centers around the lovely main street, Central Ave, with many sidewalk cafes filled with young people. There are trees providing shade, and the overall feeling is very pleasant.
The Chihuly Collection, an expensive museum of glass sculptures, is found here, and across the street, the Morean Arts Center, which is free to enter and mostly a gift shop.
A great place to stop for a snack is Cider Press Cafe, which has good smoothies and other healthy options. The decor inside is very attractive, and you can sit at the windows looking out on the street, or in the nice outdoor seating.
Rocket Fizz is a candy store that makes for a colorful diversion. There are many eclectic gift shops to browse.
If you continue walking east on Central Avenue you come to Downtown St. Petersburg with its many museums such as the famous Dali Museum, waterfront walking path, and gorgeous modern St. Pete Pier, a must-see.
