The Tampa Riverwalk is what makes Tampa such a fantastic city! It's a 2.6 mile long walkway along the blue Hillsborough River. Many people take advantage of this great place for a stroll. You pass under bridges, which provide welcome shade. Sometimes there are lush areas of trees that also provide shade, though other times you are in the brutal sun. Come in the evening or early in the day to get the best temperature for your walk.
In the southern end of the Tampa Riverwalk is Curtis Hixon Park, with amazing glass highrise buildings surrounding it. Here you can watch people on skooters or hula hooping, and visit the Tampa Museum of Art or Glazer Children's Museum. The view of the minarets of University of Tampa are glorious.
On the northern end of the riverwalk is the Heights Public Market, a happening spot where many young families and professionals come to try out its foodie options. There are plenty of places to sit outside, and some seating inside in the AC (loud and more crowded). Under the pedestrian bridge here is a natural spring. You can see its blue-green water outside Ulele Restaurant.
Tampa Riverwalk begins at the cruise ship terminal and Florida Aquarium in the south and continues 2.6 miles to Water Works Park and Heights Public Market in the north.
