Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is mostly for diehard sports fans, particularly those interested in Mississippi sports from years back. There are exhibits on basketball and baseball players, with their uniforms and equipment, plus an exhibit on the olympic games with some olympic banners.
The best part of the museum are the huge electronic games that kids can interact with. This is a great way for kids to get some exercise on hot or rainy days. There is a dodgeball game- kids stand on an electronic grid and have to run away from the moving lights. It's really a blast, for adults too! And there's a hit the gopher game- kids stand beside a wall and must whack the objects that poke out. There's also a basketball simulation game that wasn't working well when we were there. The staff are very nice at this museum.
Another place where kids can play indoors is the Mississippi Children's Museum, a modern museum with a ton of fun things for kids to do.
Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is located at 1152 Lakeland Dr, Jackson MS 39216, call (601) 982-8264.
Open Mon-Sat 10-4.
