It's very fun for adults and older kids to visit the American Banjo Museum. At the entrance there is a lit-up porch, a magical little spot, where you can learn the history of the banjo. Next, see the displays downstairs and upstairs of beautifully designed banjos! What gorgeous decorations on each banjo! There are also displays of concert apparel worn by famous banjo musicians, and some lists of musicians to listen to. The best part of the museum is the front room where kids and adults can play several different banjos while watching instructional videos on how it's done! My daughter played "You are my sunshine" on a banjo ukulele and was very inspired to keep learning more chords. What a joy!
After, stroll along Bricktown canal past flowers and bridges, to the Centennial Land Run sculpture- do not miss it! And have dinner at Jazmo'z Bourbon Street Cafe. Enjoy the live music and make sure y'all share a rum and raisin bread pudding for dessert!
American Banjo Museum is located at 9 E Sheridan Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73104, close to the Bricktown canal.
Open Tues-Sat 11-6, and Sun 12-5. Closed Mondays. Closed Jan 1, Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving, and Dec 24-25.
