Kuhio Kalanianaole Park food truck picnic, Hilo
Kuhio Kalanianaole Park is a small park with shady picnic tables and views across the water to Reeds Bay Beach Park. It's too small to be of much use for a walk (they should connect its walking path up with Reeds Bay Beach Park!). But it is handy because there are food trucks that can supply a picnic. Le Yellow Sub is a Vietnamese lunchtime food truck here but they only take cash (closed Fri-Sun). You can also pick up an egg bite or coffee at Big Island Coffee Roasters across the street and one minute west.
Beware of fire ants that fall out of the trees while you're having a picnic and bite you in your shirt. It's best to sit somewhere not under a tree!
A nicer spot with a long walk and pretty waters is Reeds Bay Beach Park.
