Leleiwi Beach Park, or Wai'uli (Waiuli) Beach Park in Hilo is a rocky area with three attractive picnic pavilions right on the water! What a place to come and take in the cool breeze on a hot day! There are natural spring-fed ice pools on either side of the promontary where the pavilions are located. People come to take a freezing dip! It's wonderful to hear the ocean crash, and see the clear, blue-green water of the springs.
There is a restroom to the left (west) of the parking lot, as you walk toward Wai'olena Beach Park.
You can walk half a mile from Wai'olena Beach Park, past Leleiwi Beach Park, past popular Richardson Ocean Park, to Lehia Beach Park (which is on a dirt road). All these "beaches" are small rocky areas on the water, except Richardson Ocean Park, which is a small black sand beach. Be careful of cars if you walk between all four beaches, because in some spots you have to walk close to the road. To skip the busy road on the way back, walk one street back, on Nene Street- it doesn't have a sidewalk though, and it is a bit deserted so only walk it with a friend.
Leleiwi Beach Park, or Wai'uli Beach Park, is located at 2276 Kalanianaole Highway, Hilo. There is a parking lot with spaces for about 20 cars.
