Lange Voorhout, in The Hague, surprises you as you approach it. There are just so many trees, and in summer it looks so green! Here, long rows of tall trees arch over you! In spring, the trees are barren but the ground is covered in crocuses that look like short tulips.

Lange Voorhout is an avenue, but the road is very small and cars don't travel it much. It has become more like a quiet L-shaped square or park, with a few cafes but mostly walking paths and greenery. The floor is shell sand and grass under the trees and cobblestones under the cafes. There is a coffee shop called Chiqueolatte Den Haag. The cafes with seating under the trees are: Posthoorn, with good Indonesian food, where we ate (photo above), and Cottontree City by Dimitri, French cuisine.
The regal buildings that line Lange Voorhout are foreign consulates, and museums, including Escher in the Palace, our favorite art museum on our trip, and Pulchri Studio, which has local modern art exhibits. Kloosterkerk is a pretty church from the outside, also on the edge of Lange Voorhout. The Royal Theater is also here. In winter, there is a Christmas market at Lange Voorhout.
Korte Voorhout is a tree-lined busy road just east of Lange Voorhout, but not nearly as impressive. Here you can walk past the Supreme Court of the Netherlands and admire the sculptures of six important judges, including Johannes Voet. These statues are really cool!
The Hague's Historic Museum, is just around the corner to the south of Lange Voorhout, on the lake that Maurithuis Art Museum is on, and Binnenhof Castle is just after that. Het Plein, a square with cafes, is also nearby.
