NOTE: This park was partly burned by the Thomas Fire.
On the hilltops above Downtown Ventura sits Grant Park. Grant Park has more than the large Serra Cross, which you see illuminated at night. It has dreamy panoramic views of the lovely curve of Ventura Beach, the Spanish buildings set back in the hills above the city of Ventura, and the Channel Islands. There are rugged walking trails, and picnic areas. The hills in the park have some nice rock formations, and some are covered in prickly pear cactus. The day we were there, there was a wedding, and it was a stunning backdrop! Don't miss seeing Grant Park in spring when there are flowers galore! Lavendar, purple bougainvillea, cactus, and best of all, yellow daisies mixed with white daisies with yellow centers. You can get some gorgeous photos of flowers with the blue sea in the distance.

I'm from the East Coast but spent considerable time, caring for a relative, in Ventura and got to know the area quite well. Grant Park is a gem. The view is spectacular...so peaceful. I miss Carpinteria, Summerland and Santa Barbara. Thank goodness for Google Earth. I can revisit my favorite places.

I'd like to give this place a 4.5, but I guess that a 4 will do. Peaceful. Best view around.

Went here after getting married. It was a short drive, it was BEAUTIFUL at the top- the ocean and beaches and the view of the channel islands. I'd recommend to anyone.
