Along 4th Street, from B Street to D Street, is the nicest section of Santa Rosa's downtown. Here, sidewalk cafes and attractive coffee shops beckon you to relax and take in the pretty, historic buildings around you. Cute bars and restaurants draw a crowd on weekend evenings. 4th Street leads directly into large Santa Rosa Plaza at B Street. It's a typical indoor two-level mall. Sitting outside on the patio at the mexican fast food place, Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, on B Street is about the most pleasant thing about the mall. On 4th Street, check out the Barnes and Noble bookstore, with its nice kids section. La Vera Pizza, which has great salads and quality Italian food, is a romantic place to eat under their yellow awning outside on 4th Street. Goth-dressed teens hang out at House Square Park, as does a statue of Charlie Brown, honoring Charles Schultz who lived in Santa Rosa.
For one of the best playgrounds you'll ever visit, head along Sonoma Avenue east to Howarth Memorial Park, where they have everything a kid could want!
Also nearby and really nice to visit is Luther Burbank Gardens, small gardens that are easy for kids to explore.
From Highway 101, exit at the Downtown Santa Rosa exit. Turn east on 6th Street and park in the mall's parking lots.
