Russian River Bridge is an amazing place. Here, you can look out on the Russian River as it meets the ocean. The river here is vividly blue, like the sky. It is breathtaking!
Drive a minute north on Highway 1 and peer down at the seal rookery below. It's a lovely wild area.
Just a little south along Highway 1, stop and check out wonderful Whale Point and Goat Beach, for a great stormy beach scene.
If you're heading down the coast along Highway 1, after about 15 miles check out Bodega Bay, with its huge grey harbor and wild windy walks; and head inland a few miles to Bodega where you can see the schoolhouse where "The Birds" was filmed.
The address is 9960 CA-1 (Hwy 1), Jenner. There used to be a restaurant here.
Take Highway 116 towards the ocean. You can do this by exiting the 101 Freeway at River Rd, and heading west. Then continue all the way through Guerneville town (don't follow signs that take you over the bridge to Sebastopol on Highway 116 east). Continue on Highway 116 west all the way to the coast. Once you're near the coast, turn south, following signs to Bodega Bay. Cross over the bridge, and turn left immediately. You are now at 9960 CA-1 (Hwy 1), Jenner, where you can see views of the Russian River Bridge.
