Also called Kualoa Beach, Chinaman's Hat Beach has gorgeous yellow sand, plenty of shade, calm waters, a stunning mountain backdrop, and a cute view of Chinaman's Hat- an island that really does look like a Chinese plantation worker's hat! There is a huge lawn adjacent to the beach that is dotted with palms. Because it is on the windward side of Oahu, it can be unpleasantly windy. Many people walk out to the island at low tide but beware of tide changes, which have led to dangerous situations. Wear reef shoes.

If you walk along the beach you will come to the "secret beach" that Kualoa Ranch will take you to for $46. Have it for free, just by walking there!
Across the highway and a little past Chinaman's Hat Beach is Kualoa Ranch. When you see its amazing mountains, you will recognize it as one of the places where the TV show "Lost" was filmed, specifically, where Hurley set up a golf course during one of the first episodes. Kualoa Ranch is an expensive visitor attraction catering to Japanese tourists, with horse rides and ATV tours. It has a movie-set tour that includes locations where Lost, Pearl Harbor, Jurassic Park, and other films were shot. See below for more info.
Other sites featured in "Lost" are: Spitting Cave , Byodo-In Temple , and Waimea Falls Park.
Chinaman's Hat Beach is along the wonderful coastal drive up to Lai'e .
