Harry P. Leu Gardens surrounds a lovely historical house on a lake. It's tranquil to sit on the lawn by the house and enjoy the cool breezes off the lake. A walk around the gardens is wonderful in summer when the tropical plants look lush and happy, twisty their way around tree trunks and by little streams. The rose garden is sweet, with its centre fountain and little bubbling fountain at the end. Kids like to wonder around this area.

There are several themed gardens like the butterfly garden where we saw a beautiful cocoon and stripey caterpillar. In winter the gardens don't look very spectacular. The prize features during winter are the camellias and azaleas. In spring, the roses fully bloom and there are also trumpet trees and gardenias in bloom. In summer, enjoy the crepe myrtles, bird of paradise, lush tropical plants, and ginger. And in fall, check out the floss silk tree, helconia, and bottlebrush tree in bloom.
After your walk, have a French baguette sandwich at Cafe 906 in the Lake Baldwin Park area. It's lovely to sit outside under the palm trees by the lake. It is an eight minute drive to the east.
While in downtown Orlando, don't miss Lake Eola Park, with its gorgeous views and animals.
