Kalama Park is a dry, windblown park on the water, with benches and picnic pavilions. There is a large, nice playground for kids with a huge shade canopy (use the parking lot at 1944 S. Kihei Rd)!
The oceanfront walking path is fantastic to take in the early morning or evening when the sun is less hot. Start at the parking lot by the tennis courts (1836 S. Kihei Rd) and then walk 1km along the path!
There is a tiny sand beach across from the hockey court, with a few ironwood trees for a tiny patch of shade.
On the north end are four tennis courts, two basketball courts, a soccer field, two softball fields.
On the south end is a skate park, inline hockey court, playground for kids, more picnic pavilions, some low trees that provide shade on the lawn, surf lessons meeting spot, yoga on the grass spot, and Wailea Canoe Club.
Walk across the street to have one of the most delicious meals on your trip, fresh ono fish at Paia Fish Market South Side. You can then browse the shops behind it at Kihei Kalama Village, a quaint area of gift stands with a koi pond.
Pick up some fresh-baked butter mochi at Foodland Supermarket, across the main road. Yum!
An excellent aquarium 17 minutes north is Maui Ocean Center, a good place to go in the middle of the day when you've had enough sun.
The best parking lot is located at 1944 S. Kihei Road, Kihei.
