It's really fun to bike ride along the Miami Beach Boardwalk, a beautiful 7.7 mile wide brick path with wavy patterns, nestled between Ocean Drive and the beach. Palm trees galore and sea grape trees will be beside you.

You can easily rent bikes with a credit card. There are bike stations called Deco Bike all along the boardwalk and you can return your bike at any of the stations when you're tired of riding! It costs $4 for half an hour, and the bikes are comfortable.
Zooming past all the interesting people on the boardwalk is a blast. Head south all the way to South Pointe Park, where there is a station. At South Pointe Park when you stand on the pier you are very close to the sand and can see all the lovely colored lifeguard stands on the beach.
If you want to take a long time to walk along the pier and promenade, you can return your bike, and then rent it again when you leave.
Heading north, you can ride your bike as far as 24th Street, where the cement boardwalk changes to a raised pedestrian wooden walkway. If you walk your bike across the walkway, you can ride it again starting at 29th Street where it becomes a cement boardwalk again. It continues all the way to 87th Street, where it becomes an unpaved walking path which is called Atlantic Way on google maps. This path leads all the way to Haulover Inlet. It continues on the other side of the inlet all the way to Haulover Beach, but I'm not sure how you'd get across the high motor bridge over the inlet.
You can bike 7.7 miles, from South Pointe Park to 87th Street! If you include the unpaved section north of 87th Street all the way to Haulover Inlet, you can run or walk 10 miles!

Directions

Deco Bike stations are all over South Beach, with many of them along the Miami Beach Boardwalk that lies between Ocean Drive and the beach, starting at the very southern tip of the island (South Pointe Park) and running to 46th Street in the north. You have to walk your bike between 24th and 29th Street when the path becomes a wooden boardwalk.
