Sunset Beach is a magical little cove along the Asilomar Coastal Walking Trail. Waves curl against the rounded Flintstones-style rocks that border the small beach. Rounded rocks are half-submerged in the pristine, beige sand. Kelp balls with long stems are washed up on the beach. Tidepools make for some fun exploring at low tide. The water is aquamarine and clear, better admired during brief moments of sunshine when the usual thick fog has cleared. You can park right along the road beside the beach.

Just to the left of the beach (if facing the water), water rushes in between rocks. It's fun to watch.
After playing at the shore, walk the 1.7 mile Asilomar Coastal Trail on its attractive dark yellow decomposed granite path. It winds around the rocky shoreline, interspersed by wooden boardwalk.
Asilomar State Beach, a bigger, white sand beach, is south of here.
After, warm up with a bacon egg breakfast biscuit at the Perfect Crumb Bakery, a six minute drive north, in the main part of Pacific Grove town.
