To soak up some nature and music, see a concert at Koka Booth Amphitheater. The atmosphere is lovely with an awesome stage, unique stage lights, the clear North Carolina sky and stars above, views of the sparkling lake, and tall pines stretching above you. There are several different concessions for food and drinks.
The security people can be unfriendly, and some nights lawn ticket holders aren't allowed to bring blankets in and must rent very uncomfortable chairs instead (or bring your own). Check the concert listing to be sure.
There is seating on the Crescent Deck that's very comfortable, on plastic chairs, that you must choose when you buy your ticket.
The only other option is to be in the pit, standing.
Be aware that some nights the opening band might play for 1.5 hours, leaving little time for the concert you came to see, if you came with kids who must get to bed on time.
The restroom to the right when facing the stage is much less crowded than the restroom by the concessions on the Crescent Deck.
During some concerts, such as the Josh Cellars Jazz Series concerts in May, they set up wonderful games for kids to play on the lawn: giant jenga, connect 4, ladder golf, and corn hole. It's idyllic.
It's lovely to walk around Symphony Lake, which borders Koka Booth. Koka Booth Amphitheater feels out of place in suburban Cary, where endless cookie cutter houses line up along perfect streets.
Before the concert, your kids can play at Harold D. Ritter Park, an eight minute drive away.
Koka Booth Amphitheater is located at 8003 Regency Pkwy, Cary, NC 27518. There is plenty of free parking, and sometimes golf carts to bring you from the parking to the venue.
