It's wonderful to stroll along in the shade, past the adorable bookseller stands (bouquinistes) on the Left Bank of the Seine River! These are the famous stands that you see in movies and in drawings, and they sell books, paintings, posters, canvas bags with artwork, and more! Although this is a tourist area, it doesn't feel tacky. It feels lovely! This is along the bank of the river, but up high along the street, not at river level on the pedestrian-only promenade. You can start at Quai Voltaire, or the bridge Pont Royal, and then walk east admiring the stands, which last for three blocks. There are a lot of people and the path is not very wide but it is still enjoyable.
You will pass some beautiful architecture on the other side of the street, such as the Monnaie de Paris Museum. You can also look down on the people enjoying the river level promenade below, and boats going by. Walk onto one of the bridges over the Seine and feel the joy as you take in the breeze and the jade green water.
After, replenish your energy by having a cup of tea at Place Dauphine on Ile de la Cite, one of the islands in the middle of the Seine River, near Pont Neuf.
An address you can use in your GPS is 19 Quai Voltaire, in order to find these bookseller stands. Or search "Bouquinistes du Quai Voltaire" on google maps to find the location.
