Parc du Bois-de-Coulonge is a gorgeous park in a forest with maple trees galore and views over the water! It has a magical feel to it, with the perfect breeze rustling the trees above you. Heavenly! I didn't want to leave. Picnic tables are spread about, and families have peaceful lunches under the trees. There is a gazebo over the water, looking out across the marina below. Flower beds add to the beauty.
There are stairs, Bois-de-Coulonge staircase, that lead from the bottom of the park to the waterfront, where you can find a pretty bike path that is part of Plains of Abraham. The path goes east for 3 km under maple trees to View Point Saint Laurent River. I didn't try this though- next trip!
In 2022, I went during Mosaicultures, an exposition of huge living sculptures made of plants. It was amazing! I loved every minute walking around it. If you're ever in a city when they have Mosaicultures Internationales, don't miss it!
Parc du Bois-de-Coulonge is located at 1215 Grande Allée, Québec City.
This park is not in Old Quebec, so you must take a taxi or bus to get there if you are staying carless in Old Quebec. The quality of taxi drivers varies considerably in Quebec. The best taxi service I found was Taxi 4000 in Levis, reached by this number: (418) 833-4000. Uber does not work well, but an app that locals use is Taxi Coop. These drivers can be bad though.
