On the northern end of Kate Sessions Park (accessed from a different road) is a hike down into a golden canyon and back up again. It is a 1.5km hike. People come with their dogs and make the trek. There are views of Mission Bay and the ocean, plus in springtime there are amazing tall wildflowers of yellow, white, orange, and purple. You park along Parkview Terrace, and then enter at the vacant lot. There is a wire fence with an opening and some signs. Go through the opening and head straight. If you walk left, that path is unkept. If you walk straight or to the right, you are on the popular loop hike.
After, drive to Kate Sessions Park to walk the 800m paved loop walk and admire the tall trees and lawn where people throw ball with their dog.
The hike starts at the vacant lot at 1984 Parkview Terrace, San Diego CA. There is a wire fence and some signs and you just walk through the opening and go straight to get on the loop hiking path.
