Kate Sessions Park is a park high up over the city. Views extend across Mission Bay all the way to the sea! People come with blankets to sit and behold the view. There is a short paved loop walk (800m long) around the park, downhill and back up again. You pass some lovely large trees. People play ball with their dog in the middle.
Come at night (but before 10pm) to see the twinkling lights below.
On the other side of the parking lot is a large lawn where a parents gather with their toddlers for music classes. The playground here is cute, under a grove of trees, and on the edge of the canyon.
To extend your walk, drive to the Kate Sessions Park Canyon Hike trailhead.
Kate Sessions Park is located at 5115 Soledad Rd, San Diego, CA 92109. From Soledad Rd, Turn onto Park Drive. You can park your car inside the park on Park Drive in the spaces in three different lots or along the road. Parking is free. Come early to get a spot!
