It's always good to walk off your meal. After eating at one of the enjoyable restaurants at Liberty Station, you can finish your evening with a walk along Liberty Station Esplanade. It's not a very finished area, but more wild, with some birds and plants on the canal. Planes from San Diego International Airport fly directly overhead, which is fun. There is also a park with rows of plaques along the walkway, explaining sad moments in American naval history when many lives were lost. An occasional group sits out on the large lawn or beside the water, taking in the end of day.
You can do a long walk at Liberty Station Esplanade. Starting at 2700 Chauncey Rd, follow the water for one mile all the way to Lindsie's Bridge, a pedestrian bridge that runs parallel to the bridge on Harbor Drive. Across the bridge, you can walk 1/4 mile more, in Bay Park, along the water. This park is next door to some hotels like Hampton Inn Liberty Station. If you cross Harbor Drive, you can walk even further! Follow the one-mile path along the water at Spanish Landing Park. There are some inspiring eucalyptus and golden coral trees in Spanish Landing Park. After your walk, have a cup of tea and scone at Con Pane Rustic Breads in Liberty Station.
Liberty Station Esplanade begins at 2700 Chauncey Rd, San Diego, on the corner of Cushing Rd and Chauncey Rd. It is across the street from a parking lot for Liberty Station.
