South Park neighborhood is a quiet, residential area of cute 1920s craftsman houses. Stroll the streets and check out the lovely gardens.
There is a cluster of cafes at Juniper Street and Fern Street, including a good bookstore called The Book Catapult. It has lots of books for those interested in art, as well as a lovely kids section.
My favorite cafe is Cafe Madeleine, in an adorable house with handsome red paneling at the entrance. I love the indoor table in a window nook. Outside there is nice seating too, on blue French bistro chairs. Their berry pancakes are sour and delicious.
Another nice restaurant is Station Tavern, where you can sit outside on picnic tables under pine trees. It's just such a good vibe!
Nearby, explore Balboa Park, a beautiful cultural area and park filled with Spanish architecture, fountains, gardens, and museums.
Check out also North Park, a neighborhood with craftman houses and two main areas with many coffee shops, cafes, and bars.
South Park neighborhood is centered around Juniper Street and Fern Street.
