Some nurseries are so lovely that it's like visiting a botanical garden! Cambria Nursery and Florist is like that. Perched on a hill high above Cambria town is the sunny, sheltered nursery. When you first walk in, there are flowers and plants galore. You walk past cute, colorful things: a shed painted in bright colors, a fountain statue of a young woman holding a pot, a cottage with turret and skylights in the middle of a redwood grove. There is a pedestrian bridge over a stream, and this water feature leads into a Buddhist gazebo with a statue. Goats with their own green barn, and chickens in a hen house are fun to watch!
In the fall, there are pumpkins galore and broccoli scarecrows as part of the Cambria Scarecrow Festival. This is the best time to come because you can also browse the Christmas Market which is already set up and ready to go! It feels a little odd to look at Christmas items in October, but it's a great way to see the many rooms of amazing displays for free and without any crowds. The people who design this market have an eye for beauty!
The same people also create the Cambria Pines Lodge Christmas Lights, which begins across the street. It is expensive and crowded, but a popular tradition at Christmastime.
After, have a stroll along beautiful Burton Drive in Cambria East, and if you love the ocean, walk the wooden boardwalk at Moonstone Beach Drive (check the weather on a webcam first).
Cambria Nursery and Florist is located at 2801 Eton Rd, Cambria, CA. There is a large parking lot. Entry is free, but buy a plant or decoration to support their garden!
