Limekiln State Park is a stop along the Big Sur Coast Drive from San Simeon to Lucia. It has a beach that is like a dream! I have magical memories from my time there.
Because of the Regent landslide, you can currently (2025) only get here from the south or San Simeon end of the Big Sur Drive.
Here a crystal clear river leads into the ocean. Strewn on the sand, beside the river, are huge sparkling white rocks. We walked from the parking lot through the forest, on a bridge over the stream, then dipped our toes in the river. After, we sat on the smooth rocks, peered up at the high concrete overpass bridge, and listened to the crashing ocean. It was a wonderful stop! There are clean restrooms at this stop.
The second time I visited, I took off my shoes and socks to cross the shallow river and reach the shore. Here I stood on a huge grey rock, with the ocean swooshing all around me. It was exhilarating! You can hear the pebbles on shore being rolled by the waves. It's wonderful, like ASMR!
The trail to the falls has moss-covered rocks and lovely forest, but it is currently (2025) closed.
Bring a $10 bill in cash, because the ranger doesn't give change for a $20 bill.
Entrance a $10 bill in cash, no change given, paid to the ranger at the gate (this is a private ranger station so your receipt from parking at other stations in Big Sur does not count).
