Patricia Drive in the Foothill neighborhood is a great place to walk, from its very southern end near Foothill Blvd, to its northern end near Bishop Peak mountain! You can walk for about two miles, if you add a few extra streets. Because there are few street crossings, you can let your mind wander and just meditate on the beautiful mountain views of Bishop Peak and Cerro San Luis. Bishop Peak is especially magical!

Patricia Drive is mostly flat, so it's great if your knees are sensitive. It's hard to find flat walks in SLO. If one of you wants to hike, and the other has sensitive knees, one can do the Bishop Peak hike (the trailhead is on Patricia Drive) while the other walks along the street.
The houses in this Foothill neighborhood are mostly the plain 1950s tract variety, but as you get higher up toward Bishop Peak you see some pretty houses with nice gardens. The eastern end of Patricia Road has the best ones. There are also flowers galore in this area. In April they are particularly lovely.
For a stunning road, walk up Cerro Romauldo Ave (a steep street) to Los Cerros Drive. There are beautiful views here. Add in La Loma Court, to enjoy the wide open spaces at the end of the culdesac. After this walk, you will be glad you live in SLO!
Pop into St. Anne Byzantine Church, just steps from the intersection of Patricia Drive and Cerro Romauldo, to say thank you for your walk! When you enter, it feels like you are in another country, and even another century. The gold paintings of St. Anne, Mary, baby Jesus, and other saints are beautiful, though with somber facial expressions. Michael the Archangel is also featured here. It is only open if someone is working that hour, such as in the morning.
Trash pickup is on Thursday morning, so come for a walk on a different day.
After, have a cup of tea at Scout Coffee in the shopping center called University Square. It's a fun, youthful atmosphere with all the Cal Poly students around.
This neighborhood is near Cal Poly SLO.
